Landlord & Tenant

The government’s official ‘how to rent’ guide is for people who are looking for a house or flat to rent. A landlord is usually required to give a tenant a copy of the latest guide when a new lease is entered into. The most up to date version of the guide is available on the government website here: (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/how-to-rent).

A non-official traditional Chinese translation of the ‘how to rent’ guide is here. It is prepared for reading side by side with the official guide, and is for your reference only.

The government has also published a model tenancy agreement for use in the private rented sector where a shorthold tenancy is being entered into, and accompanying guidance. The most up to date version of the document is available on the government website here (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/model-agreement-for-a-shorthold-assured-tenancy).

A non-official traditional Chinese translation of the model tenancy agreement and accompanying guidance will be here.
