Our Board

Our Board members with a broad range of skills available to support the direction and management of the Law Centre. From long term community supporters to the President of the Liverpool Law Society. We are honoured to have such a dedicated board supporting us.

Our Board Members

Pauline Connolly is the Chair of the Board. She is the Chief Executive of Vauxhall Neighbourhood Council and has been involved with the Centre from its inception.

Annie Goodman is the Treasurer. She has been involved with the centre from its inception. As a local resident, she started her career as a volunteer, later becoming a paid member of staff. She continued to volunteer at the centre during its financial crisis.

Samantha Currie is a local resident and a senior lecturer at the University of Liverpool’s school of law and social justice.

Alan Gibbons is an English writer of children's books who has won a Blue Peter Book Award. He lives in Liverpool where he used to teach in a primary school. He was on the central committee of the Socialist Workers Party for many years.

Julie O’Hare is a practising solicitor specialising in criminal law, and was previously President of Liverpool Law Society between 2019 and 2022.

Geraldine Oakford is a lifelong resident and community activist in the North Liverpool area. Geraldine brings her community expertise and experiences as a local resident and service user to the Board.

Raymond Howard is a practising solicitor specialising in environmental law and an associate law lecturer with the Open University. Originally from the Vauxhall area but has worked at Humberside Law Centre for over 7 years specialising in Housing Law, and Civil Liberties. He remains a supporter of the Law Centre movement.

 

Amanda Stewart first became involved with a law centre, GMLC, during the first year of her law degree.  Amanda is a campaigner on access to justice issues.

Co-opted members:

Sally Speers is a community activist and is co-opted from the Vauxhall Neighbourhood Council bringing another dimension from the community.

 

Kevin Lee is a practising solicitor and Partner at Hill Dickinson who are one of the largest private employers in Liverpool and pride themselves on a commitment to staff welfare, living wage and supporting the community. Kevin is a member of the Society of Labour Lawyers.
